Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

We recognise every child’s individual needs and will give each pupil every opportunity to achieve their potential. We place a great deal of importance on ensuring that students with special educational needs are identified, properly assessed and well supported.

We provide support that is tailored to cater to each child’s situation. Support might be given in class, in a small group or through withdrawal classes and is delivered by skilled teachers and learning support assistants.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Pupils for whom English is an additional language will benefit from our emphasis on the core curriculum, gaining extra support until they reach the expected achievement for their age in English. Through careful assessment and a combination of small learning groups, our pupils have full access to the educational opportunities provided by the Academy.

Gifted and Talented Students

We want all our pupils to maximise their potential and are not content with gifted and talented students simply achieving the expected level for their year. We ensure that all our students are challenged and supported in order to excel. Through careful identification and assessment, we provide a suitable challenge and differentiation to extend the learning of all our pupils.
