Easter and Year 9 options evening

The final day of Spring term at ARK Kings Academy will be Thursday 28th March 2013.

Children return to school on Monday 15th April 2013.

Year 9 Options evening will now take place on Wednesday 1st May 2013, beginning at 5pm. We apologise for any inconvenience this change of date may have caused.

Please note that due to half term being early in Birmingham, staff training will take place a week after return to school this Autumn term.

School will not be open on Monday 5th November or Tuesday 6th November. Pupils return to school as normal at 8:20am on Wednesday 7th November.

ARK Kings and ARK Rose official opening celebration

Around 150 people from the community, including parents, students, local councillors and other headteachers joined together on Wednesday 10th October for the formal celebration of both ARK Kings Academy and ARK Rose Academy.

Both schools had an inaugural performance of their new choirs. Years 5 and 6 from ARK Rose sang ‘I Believe’ and the ARK Kings choir and band performed ‘Lifted’ by the Lighthouse Family.

ARK Kings presented their first ever Head Boy (Tolu Odubanjo) and Head Girl (Chloe Porter). Both made their maiden speeches outlining their ambitions in the role and their ambitions to go to university to study engineering and psychology respectively.

Richard Burden MP spoke about the future of education in the area and welcomed the aspiration and ambition of both new schools to significantly raise standards of attainment.

The motto of ARK Rose – ‘Excellence for everyone’ and the motto for ARK Kings ‘Aspire. Expect. Achieve.’ capture the essence of the ambition of both schools to focus on the highest standards of achievement for all students.

At the end of the ceremony new logos for the schools were unveiled by the Principal. ARK Rose logo was made by printing hand sketches of all the pupils in the school, into the petals of the Rose logo design. The ARK Kings logo has been made into a large mosaic by the students, a detailed project using coloured tiles and many hours of dedication.

ARK Kings Academy features in Financial Times

On Saturday 29th September the Financial Times published an editorial about ARK Kings Academy, based upon an interview conducted with Mr Larkin, the school Principal.

Alongside this was an article outlining the impact St Albans Academy has made upon it's local community and the successes which have been achieved there, despite obstacles.
